Cailean considered himself to be a light sleeper, which was why it shocked him when he was jolted awake to see the sun starting to come up through the curtains over the windows and to hear the sounds of tinkling coins.

He looked up, and there was Trystan, smiling into the screen of Cailean’s phone, fingers tapping as he played what sounded like Jetpack Joyride.

He didn’t look sick. His color was good, and he was sitting up as he put all of his focus into the game.

Cailean grinned and adjusted himself in the uncomfortable chair. It was a wonder he’d fallen asleep at all.

Trystan noticed the second Cailean moved. Cailean couldn’t help but smile at him. “How are you feeling?”

“Pretty good,” Trystan said, and some color darkened his cheeks, but Cailean was pretty sure that had nothing to do with any fever.

“Sorry, I saw your phone,” he said, setting it aside.

“Don’t worry about it. You can play as much as you want,” Cailean said.

“I nearly killed your battery.”

Cailean laughed out loud. “Well, that’s all right, too. We’re back in a place that has power and will get reception. I can charge it and bring it back for you. Actually, I’ll get the charger over here so you can use it as much as you want.”

“Won’t you need it? It’s your phone.”

Fuck, that was right. “I’ll bring you my iPad. It has all the same games on it and a couple of books.”

Trystan smiled at him, and it was too much. Cailean leaned in, putting his hands on the back of Trystan’s hair, and gently pulled his head forward to press a kiss to the man’s blue bangs.

Trystan’s amber eyes were wide and so pretty to look into when Cailean looked down at him.

He’d never noticed the ring of darker color that surrounded the irises before. They were really pretty.

“Your temperature’s pretty good.”

“How long have I been in here?” Trystan asked.

“A couple of days. You were a little feverish when I brought you to Zelda the first time before she left with Stacy. I guess it wasn’t enough. It came back so fast I didn’t even notice until after Duncan came. You were talking a lot in your sleep. I was worried.”

More blushing, and Cailean had to touch the man’s cheeks just to make sure he wasn’t overly hot.

Trystan smiled at him even as he pushed Cailean’s hands away. “You don’t have to do that. I’m fine now.”

Cailean smiled back. He was too happy over the fact that Trystan’s fever had broken and he was finally awake. “Sorry. Don’t mean to treat you like glass or anything. I’m just...worried.”

Trystan looked away briefly before turning his eyes back up to Cailean. “So, what happens now? With us?”

“I was hoping, considering what we’d done in the motel room, that you might like to move into my room with me. If you want to keep it slow, that’s fine, too.”

Trystan’s eyes widened a little, as if the idea of sleeping in Cailean’s room shocked him.
